Pickup A Trend: Lady In Red

I'm sure by now you would've noticed how bright colors takes center stage this spring.
Secretly, I have been a huge fan of bright and bold colors; thanks to mum who truly believes that the Flower Power sensation will make a big come back soon. And I am all excited to experiment and play around bright, loud colors not only to my outfit but also my makeup.

Think Block colors, adorn clashing flourescent playful colors and dare yourslef to wear those vivid colors you've secretly stashed.

Electric blue, Shocking Pink, Sunny Yellow, Glaring Orange, Furious Magenta and Chilli Red.
So, this is the season to get loud and expressive....

:: Lady in Red::

In my previous entry of Latest Makeup Haul, I mentioned how I bought this gorgeous Red Lipstick by Revlon.

Not sure whether RED is the color for you?
Fret not, here's how to choose the best red lipstick for your skin tone.

Step 1
Identify your skin tone - whether you're WARM, COOL or NEUTRAL
See here to do identify your skin tone.

Step 2
Go to your nearest drugstore and try out all the different kinds of red lipsticks by swatching the back of your palm.

Step 3
Now, compare which shade of red looks best with you.

If you have a COOL undertone, blue-based lipstick will be your best choice of red Lipstick.
If you have a WARM understone, yellow/orange/brown based lipstick will be the color for you.
However, if you're a NEUTRAL, both blue and yellow based lipstick will suit you well.

As for me, notice how the first swatch (left most) yields the best color for me. Where as the second swatch (middle) turned orange on my skin. Since I was going for the dramatic-RED-devilish-lipstick, I chose the one on the left that complements my COOL undertone!

Here's a quick Do's & Don'ts on wearing your lips RED:-

- Do choose matte red lipstick because shimmery red lipstick will make you look so FAKE

- Don't forget to line your lips with the same shade or slightly darker shade of lip liner

- Do keep your overall makeup minimal and clean. A black eyeliner would do the trick. Unless, you're     aiming for the clashing colors look (like me!)

- Don't forget to use some lip balm before applying your red lipstick or else your lips will look chapped.

- Don't forget to press your lips onto a piece of tissue after applying your red lipstick -> remember lips should be stained not colored.

- Don't forget to re-apply your lipstick after lunch!

Till then, good luck & stay flawless...
