Product Review: SimplySiti Clear Solution Charcoal Cleanser

Happy Tuesday!

To be honest, (yes, this time I am NOT lying *peace*) I wanted to blog about a month ago but decided not to cause of my recent not-so-great-skin condition.

My event - HALFEST was quite different to the other event we organise. During HALFEST we invited local celebrities to grace our event in order to build up the hype and attract more people to our event. We invited local celebrities such as Vanidah Imran (my favourite!), Aaron Aziz (ehem, ehem), legendary Sheila Majid, Awie, M.Nasir, Francessca Peters, Ziana Zain and many more.

So, one of these famous people was Dato' Siti Nurhaliza and boy, was I in awe with her. She's so pretty, I must say she's really slim in real life and on top of that; very, very friendly. I fell in love with her instantly. I wasn't really a fan before, but now I'm goo-goo-ga-ga-ing over her!

Man, I'm easily drowned in all the power of charisma and fame. I know right, SUCKER! T__T

Bedazzled...I gave in and finally bought my first SimplySiti product. I know right, HOPELESS SUCKER!! T____T

Source

To be safe, I bought the SimplySiti Clear Solution Charcoal Cleanser. I thought hey, a cleanser wouldn't do as much harm as a moisturiser/lotion/cream etc. right?

Nope. I was WRONG!

In my defense I'm not trying to bring Siti Nurhaliza's products down. After all she is one of our valued exhibitor. I believe her products have made a lot of ladies happy. (I know, triple SUCKER!!! Can't help it...she's really nice O.O and I like her, OK!)

But unfortunately for me, it didn't really do its job. Maybe I am allergic to charcoal, kan?
*cricket sounds*

(Sejak bila pun entahlah. God woman! Stop making stupid excuses. Honest review...you promised honest review to your readers!)

Ok, yeah...the SimplySiti Charcoal Cleanser gave me these! (warning: gross picture ahead)

I really want to love it. So badly that I tried and...I was really forcing myself to believe that the Siti Nurhaliza cleanser didn't gave me these bumps. But, who am I kidding. My daily beauty regime is the same and the only thing which was different was the cleanser.

Muka excited tak boleh blah!

*Sigh*

I'm sorry Siti Nurhaliza *puppy eyes* I guess, we were not meant to be together....
(ok, drama giler!)

And FYI, those bumps are ridiculously hard to get rid off. I'm back to my good 'ol Hada Labo beauty regime and those bumps are still there! Heaven sake it's been a month already. Pfftt.....

So, have you tried any of SimplySiti's product?
Do share *winks*

Till then, good luck & stay flawless...
xoxo,
Mariella Liyana

Product Review: Inglot YSM Cream Foundation

I promised a good friend of mine this review....
This is for you my dear... =)

Source

I received some sample from Inglot during my recent visit to their brand new store in Malaysia, which is in Sunway Pyramid. I was ecstatic during my trip there, even if it was my 3rd visit by then. Still, there's nothing better than a posh, elegantly decorated beauty boutique that offers you a gazillion vibrant, wonderful colors to decorate your face.

Even describing it gives me the jitters.
I'm proud to be an addict. A makeup addict that is ^__^

I took a few pictures of their boutique.

[to be uploaded soon]

Since the interior was mainly made of squeaky-shiny-black top, every now and then, you'll see the MUA frantically wiping these tops so they stay finger-prints free.

Product Review: Lancome Maqui Blanc Miracle

Bonjour!
How is your day so far? Mine's pretty packed, as usual.

Today, let's do a quick review on the new Lancome Maqui Blanc Miracle with SPF 26.
I wasn't sure of Lancome based on my previous 'bleh' experience with its compact powder. Infact, Lancome was not one of those brands I yearn for. Lancome and I do not share any chemistry, so to speak.

However, I was called (or in Bahasa Malaysia - terpanggil. Haha, funny seh!) to test Lancome's new liquid foundation. So, off I went to one of their counter in Jusco, Mid Valley.

I tried a couple of colors to see which color suits me well and asked a few questions to the SA. Unfortunately, when I requested for some sample. The SA rolled her eyes and told me that they ran out of samples. From her face, I could see that she wasn't really telling the truth. This irked me. Gravely irked me.

I have NO tolerance to BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. I am a firm believer that the customer is ALWAYS right. And 70% of the time people buy a product because they like the person selling it. So, if you want your products to sell sista, you better have the right attitude. Kapish?!

Finally, after a few question-answer session, she came up with a tiny sample jar that 'happens to be lying around on the counter'. Pump me two pumps of the foundation, gave it to me while passing a sarcastic remark that goes like this..."Don't forget to come back ar and buy the foundation..." and smiled sarcastically.

Dalam hati, sabar je lah. Ape, kau ingat aku takde duit nak beli setakat foundation kau yang takde lah mahal gila pun?!!! I vow, even if the product is good...I'm never buying it from her!! Grrr...

Fine, water under the bridge. See, I can be forgiving =_=

Apart from the bad service, here's what I think of the foundation...

Product Review: Dove Intense Repair Overnight Cream

I did a little experiment with my hair earlier. To see what happens when you stinge and try to color your hair on your own. This is after your previous hair color crawled down to your ear-level and you look like Cruealla De Vil's sister, the half blonde half brunetter sister.

I have very fine and limp hair and to actually go to a proper hair saloon and color my hair was a complete waste of money for me. Why? Because my hair is too little (sangat miskin) and fine and I'd only end up using 1/3 of the hair color, BUT pay for it in FULL. (that's the Accountant part of me talking, heh)

So, I cheated and bought Revlon's Hair Dye, Ammonia-free in Golden Brown from the nearest drugstore.

The result...

Frizzy, uneven carrot top for hair. And what makes it worst is that my hair is now coarse like a broom. Right after coloring it, I can barely comb my hair right. Heck, I can't even run my fingers through my hair without my fingers getting stuck in between it!

Yes, pretty stupid of me. But, this is all for the sake of an experiment (gone wrong!). I know, I'm in denial...so sue me!

What did I do next?
Well, nothing. I couldn't cause I had to fly off the next day. S**t!

Once landed safely, the first thing I hunt for is a conditioner. But luckily, while frantically searching for a good conditioner, I bumped into this....

Well, hello there...would you be my friend???

Product Review: L'Oreal Paris RevitaLift White Day Cream

Dearest beloved readers,

Forgive me, for I have sinned...to be exact, I LIED.
I promised a couple of reviews in my previous entry and yes, I failed to keep my promises.
Bak kata pepatah Melayu, menanam tebu di bibir and I'm guilty as charged.

So, to redeem myself...I promise (yes, another promise!) to blog about all the reviews I mentioned in my earlier posts and those that I have thought of reviewing yet haven't gotten around doing so and those that I promised the lovely people whom emailed/text me requesting for special reviews.

No need name dropping, you know who you are...*winks gedik*

Ok, onto our topic for today.
But, before that...have a look at this picture:-

Product Review: Hada Labo Gokujyun Makeup Remover

Ok, so everybody knows Hada Labo product was a sensation last year. Who has never seen their gimmick '1 sold every 4 seconds!'. Yes, that is how sensationalised Hada Labo products were.

Prior to Hada Labo, the name super-hyaluronic acid was totally alien to me. Infact, it sounds scary. But, thanks to the Japanese innovation, super hyaluronic acid is the latest must-have in every girls drawer!

Let's pronounce it slowl...h-ya-lu-ro-nic or bahasa baku 'hai-ya-lu-ro-nik' acid.
God know why they can't find a shorter-word-easier-to-say name, gosh!

If you notice, I am an avid-user of hada labo products and has stayed loyal to it for quite some time. Read here and here.

My latest collection of the Hada Labo series is the Gokujyun Makeup Remover which I blogged about the purchase here.

THE VERDICT

I must say, this makeup remover strikes me as a cleansing oil at first but oh boy, I was fooled.
Surprisingly the texture is runny and watery, yeap, just like the other Hada Labo products...water. It contains no alcohol, fragrance nor any traces of oil. Like I said, it's just water, a SUPER water.

Product Review: theBalm Balm Shelter

I once heard someone saying that once you've tried tinted moisturiser, you're definitely gonna be hooked!
Maybe, not in my case....

As you would've read in my previous entries here, I was 'lusting' for theBalm BalmShelter tinted moisturiser. So, I finally bought it earlier this month here and here's a share of my likes and dislikes....

THE VERDICT

You could read more on theBalm BalmShelter here.

Overall, I like the packaging and the fact that it comes in a squeez-y tube that allows me to squeeze out the tinted moisturiser easily with no mess at all. It comes in a 64ml tanned orange tube with grey cap which was double the size of a normal foundation.

Product Review: Shiseido Perfect Refining Foundation

Earlier, I mentioned about the new Shiseido Perfect Refining Foundation (click here).

I haven't had much experience with makeup line produced by Asian companies, in this case, a Japanese company. I received a sample of the Shiseido Perfect Refining foundation in #O40 Natural Fair Ochre few weeks ago, so here's my thoughts on it...

THE VERDICT

I went to Sogo recently to have a look at the foundation and was surprised to see that the packaging looked rather small for a RM130 worth of product. Relief came when I flipped the foundation and saw that this little container actuals holds up 30ml of the foundation. To be honest, I actually walked up to the nearest Lancome counter to double check whether 30ml is an appropriate amount of foundation. Heh.

Product Review: Dior Addict Lipstick

Like I promised earlier, here's a brief review of the new Dior Addict Lipstick who featured the sexy and glamorous supermodel Kate Moss as their new brand ambassador.

Dior presents you a total of 56 selection of pink lipsticks inspired by John Galliano and the runway for their 2011 Spring/Summer collection. Color varies from pale pink to bright hot pink which is the current season must have for lipsticks. Think spring and all its blooming flowers.

Before I purchased my Dior Addict, I was contemplating between the new Chanel Rouge Coco Shine and Lancome L'Absolu Nu Rouge lipstick. The difference between these lipsticks produced by the 3 giant cosmetic companies in France is really nothing much. They each produce sheer-colored and balmy lipstick that promises to enhance your natural pink lips and moisturise it at the same time.

Product Review: Olay White Radiance CelLucent White Essence & Night Restoring Cream

Hello beautiful,

As promised earlier, let's have a look at Olay White Radiance with CelLucent skincare line...

I know, i'm a tad bit late but as they say better late than never.
After reading and googling, I've finally decided to give Olay another try.

My past experience with Olay was OK (the Olay Total Effect serum, the one with Siti Nurhaliza on it =P) however, there was one product I used from Olay that gave me pimple-fest after my first application. So, with that in mind, trying out another Olay product give me the queasy feeling in the gut. But after much fact-finding, I've managed to muster some courage to give the White Radiance CelLucent range a try...*cross fingers*

Olay recently (not so recent-lah) launched its two new product range:

1) Olay White Radiance CelLucent

2) Olay Regenerist with Micro Sculpting

Q: Could you try the Bobbi Brown Cleansing Oil & tell me what you think?

A good friend of mine who is a beauty lover herself gave me a jar of Bobbi Brown Cleansing Oil which she bought recently and totally fell in love with it.

"If only they make these as shower gel so I can cleanse my body like my face. It's so effective and simple and I love it." Ms. I.E.Z

:D

So, today I did a little experiment myself....

Ok, I admit...I was a bit dramatic today...:P

Review: Vichy Total Pore Resurfacing Essence

Yeap, I heard a lot of rave on this cream too. So, being me who just want to get her hands on things people rave about - I bought it. For your information, I have slightly enlarged pores on my nose and cheeks as well as my forehead. And I desperetely need to drecrease my pore size pronto or else I'll end up with loads and loads of blackheads and white heads.

This is NOT me. But my pores look something like this. Open for all to see! *sigh*

But till recently, I never gave much thought on getting a pore-refining cream. All this while I thought simple swipe of cold-ice cube on my face would do the trick. But due to the constant extreme tempreature changes I experience - super hot one minute outdoor and super cold like winterland in the office, has done much....

Review: Egyptian Magic

As promised, here's my take on the Egyptian Magic Cream (EMC) I bought before Raya. For your information, EMC received many compliments and was raved about amongst US celebrity as THE multi-purpose healing balm for your skin. In short, it can moisturise, rejuvenate and heal skin with its all natural ingredients.

"Egyptian Magic probably has garnered more kudos in the fashion press than any comparable product in the world. From Japan to Australia to Europe and the US, the Fashion Press agrees that Egyptian Magic is a "must-have" beauty and skin care product. It improves your.....
